After fixation, the tissue undergoes a series of dehydration steps using increasing concentrations of ethanol. Once dehydrated, the tissue is infiltrated with melted paraffin wax. The tissue is then embedded in a block of paraffin, which solidifies and allows for thin sectioning using a microtome. These thin sections can be mounted on slides for histological analysis.
