Intramembranous ossification is one of the two essential processes through which bone tissue forms. Unlike endochondral ossification, where bones develop from a cartilage template, intramembranous ossification involves the direct transformation of mesenchymal tissue into bone. This process is primarily responsible for the formation of flat bones, including those of the skull, face, and clavicles.
