Diffuse Alveolar Damage (DAD) is a histopathological term used to describe a specific pattern of lung injury. It is commonly associated with the clinical syndrome of ARDS. DAD represents the acute phase reaction of the lung parenchyma in response to a variety of insults, including infections, toxins, trauma, and other inflammatory states.
