What Changes Occur in Tissues During Immunodeficiencies?
Immunodeficiencies can be either congenital or acquired. Histological examination often reveals:
- Lymphoid Tissue Hypoplasia: Underdevelopment or absence of lymphoid tissues such as the thymus and lymph nodes. - Reduced Germinal Centers: Germinal centers in lymph nodes and spleen may be poorly formed or absent. - Infections: Frequent infections leading to tissue damage, often marked by the presence of opportunistic pathogens.
