The endometrium undergoes cyclic changes in response to hormonal fluctuations. The proliferative phase is characterized by the regeneration of the endometrial lining under the influence of estrogen. The secretory phase, driven by progesterone, prepares the endometrium for potential implantation by increasing glandular secretion and vascularization. If fertilization does not occur, the menstrual phase ensues, where the endometrial lining is shed.
