What are the types of photoreceptor cells in the retina?
The retina contains two main types of photoreceptor cells:
1. Rods: These cells are responsible for vision in low-light conditions and do not mediate color vision. They are more numerous than cones and are primarily located in the peripheral regions of the retina. 2. Cones: These cells are responsible for color vision and visual acuity. They are densely packed in the fovea, the central part of the retina.
