What are the Techniques Used in Hair Transplantation?
There are two primary methods used for hair transplantation: Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE).
Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) In FUT, a strip of scalp is removed from the donor area and then dissected into individual follicular units under a microscope. These units are then implanted into the recipient area. This method allows for the transplantation of a large number of grafts in a single session.
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) FUE involves extracting individual follicular units directly from the donor area using a specialized extraction instrument. These units are then implanted into the recipient area. FUE is less invasive than FUT and leaves minimal scarring.
