Current research is focused on understanding the regulatory mechanisms of Claudin 5 expression and function, as well as its interactions with other tight junction proteins. Studies are also exploring the potential of Claudin 5 as a biomarker for BBB integrity and its role in neuroinflammation and other CNS disorders. Additionally, there is ongoing research aimed at developing novel drug delivery systems that can bypass or modulate the BBB by targeting Claudin 5.
