What are the Histological Features of TSC2-Related Tumors?
Histologically, TSC2-related tumors often exhibit a mix of cell types and structures. For example, angiomyolipomas found in the kidneys consist of blood vessels, smooth muscle cells, and adipose tissue. Cortical tubers in the brain show disorganized neurons and glial cells, often with large, atypical cells known as balloon cells. These features help pathologists identify TSC-related lesions.
