What are the Histological Features of H. pylori Infection?
In histological examination, H. pylori infection is characterized by the presence of the bacteria on the surface of the gastric epithelium, particularly in the antrum. It is often associated with neutrophilic infiltration in the superficial lamina propria and an increase in intraepithelial lymphocytes. Chronic infection can lead to the formation of lymphoid follicles and increased plasma cells in the lamina propria.
