What are the Histological Characteristics of Increased Connective Tissue?
Histologically, increased connective tissue is characterized by an overabundance of collagen fibers, which stain strongly with trichrome stains or Masson's trichrome. The affected tissue may also display a higher density of fibroblasts and myofibroblasts. There may be a reduction in normal tissue architecture, leading to altered organ function.
