Muscle cells, or myocytes, are responsible for movement and force generation. They can be classified into three types: skeletal muscle cells, which are voluntary and striated; cardiac muscle cells, which are involuntary and striated; and smooth muscle cells, which are involuntary and non-striated. Each type has distinct histological features and functions.
