Fibrous joints are connected by dense connective tissue, primarily collagen, and allow very little to no movement. There are three types of fibrous joints: sutures, found in the skull; syndesmoses, where bones are connected by a ligament such as the tibiofibular joint; and gomphoses, which are specialized joints where a peg fits into a socket, as seen in the connection between teeth and their sockets.
