Dewaxing and rehydration of tissue sections. Immersion of the tissue sections in the retrieval solution. Heating the solution (for HIER) or incubating with enzymes (for EIER). Cooling down and rinsing the sections to remove the retrieval solution.
This process can be performed using a microwave, pressure cooker, or water bath for HIER, and an incubator for EIER.
