MVD is typically measured using histological techniques. Tissue samples are stained with endothelial cell markers such as CD31, CD34, or vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), which highlight the presence of blood vessels. The stained sections are then visualized under a microscope, and the number of microvessels in a defined area is counted. Automated image analysis software can also be used to enhance accuracy and reproducibility.
