How is Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplantation Performed?
The procedure begins with the collection of hematopoietic stem cells from the donor, often through a process called apheresis or bone marrow harvest. The recipient undergoes conditioning regimen, which may include chemotherapy or radiation, to eradicate diseased cells and create space for the new stem cells. The collected stem cells are then infused into the recipient’s bloodstream, where they migrate to the bone marrow and commence differentiation.
