In the PNS, neural repair is facilitated by the presence of Schwann cells. These cells play a crucial role in the regeneration of damaged nerves by forming a regeneration tube that guides the growth of new axons. Schwann cells also secrete growth factors that promote axonal growth and provide a conducive environment for reinnervation of target tissues.
