The myenteric plexus interacts closely with the submucosal plexus (Meissner's plexus) and receives input from the autonomic nervous system. While the submucosal plexus primarily regulates enzyme secretion and blood flow, the myenteric plexus focuses on muscle contractions. Both plexuses work in concert to maintain the overall function of the gastrointestinal tract.
