How are coagulation disorders assessed histologically?
Coagulation disorders, such as hemophilia, involve defects in the blood clotting process. Although histology is not the primary diagnostic tool, it can provide supportive evidence. For example, in severe hemophilia, joint biopsies may show chronic synovitis due to recurrent bleeding episodes. Liver biopsies in patients with disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) may show fibrin deposition and microthrombi formation.
