What Are the Histological Features of Hypertension?
Hypertension, or high blood pressure, induces various changes in the cardiovascular system. Arterial walls may thicken due to increased smooth muscle cell proliferation and extracellular matrix deposition. In severe cases, arterioles may exhibit hyaline arteriolosclerosis or hyperplastic arteriolosclerosis, characterized by thickening of the vessel walls and narrowing of the lumen.
