What are the Histological Changes in Tissues After Radiotherapy?
The effects of radiotherapy on tissues can be profound. Histologically, treated tissues often show signs of fibrosis, loss of vascularity, and cellular atrophy. In some instances, necrosis of the tissue may be evident. There may also be an infiltration of inflammatory cells as the body attempts to repair the radiation-induced damage.
