Lymphoid tissues function as sites for immune cell activation and proliferation. When antigens are encountered, they are captured and presented by antigen-presenting cells (APCs) to lymphocytes. This interaction triggers the activation and proliferation of B and T cells, which then migrate to the site of infection or inflammation to exert their immune functions.
