Biosafety cabinets operate using a combination of air filtration and airflow management. They are equipped with HEPA filters, which trap airborne particles, including microorganisms. The airflow within the cabinet is carefully controlled to prevent contaminants from entering or leaving the work area. In Class II and III cabinets, the air is drawn into the cabinet, filtered, and then either recirculated within the cabinet or exhausted outside the laboratory.
